Chelix has invented a revolutionary technology for fabricating one-component
narrow or broadband, thin circular polarizers. These non-absorptive polarizers
are made of liquid crystal polymers that self-align into a helical
configuration. The materials reflect light whose polarization matches the sense
of the helical configuration and transmit light with a complimentary polarization.
The films can be engineered to reflect light in any portion of the spectrum from
near ultraviolet to near infrared, creating high-performance optical components that have good
contrast ratios, transmittance and polarization. Since Chelix has developed the capability
of adjusting the center wavelength and broadening the bandwidth, these features can be
customized for specific use.
