Chelix was established in 1997 as CLCEO Corporation, a subsidiary of
Reveo, Inc. CLCEO's founding mission was to focus on
the research, development, manufacture, and marketing of advanced, ultra-high
performance applications and products based on cholesteric liquid crystals.
The corporation rose from the success of Reveo's previous research efforts in the field,
which resulted in novel technologies for broadband polarizers, liquid crystal pigments,
and switchable windows, all based on the unique optical properties of cholesterics.
Also using cholesterics, Reveo developed and patented other frontier
technologies for multilayer optical data storage and dye lasers.
Since its inception, the corporation's research team has continued to develop cholesteric
liquid crystal applications still further, broadening their scope to include color filters
and optical components for liquid crystal displays, as well as window films for control of
solar energy.
In January 2002, CLCEO was renamed Chelix Technologies. Chelix is working to solidify
its leadership in development of applications for cholesterics by closely matching its
research efforts with market needs; it is also on its way to gaining a leadership position
in the development of cholesteric materials. Chelix focuses on applications that
are closest to market and where the company can offer enhanced aesthetic appeal and/or
energy-saving benefits. See the Chelix Products page for
more details.
